Federal Court Case Statistics
If you are looking for compiled statistics on federal court cases,
the federal judiciary publishes them on the web in two places.
The official federal court website
(www.uscourts.gov) has numerous
statistical reports available free of charge.
The reports are available for viewing at
http://www.uscourts.gov/library/statisticsalreports.html. These
files are updated as new data is released by the Administrative
Office.
In addition, the PACER Service Center hosts a number of federal case statistical reports on the PACER Case Locator under the Statistics menu option. These reports include the US Bankruptcy F-2 and F-5a Tables available through 12/31/12, and the Civil Justice Reform Act Reports available through 09/30/09. The F-2 reports are monthly tables that contain the total business and nonbusiness bankruptcy filings by chapter, district and circuit. The F-5a provides a summary of the number of business and non-business bankruptcy petitions filed, by chapter of the bankruptcy code, for a twelve month period. It displays totals by county, as well as each circuit and judicial district. The Civil Justice Reform Act Reports provide summary and detailed information on pending motions, bench trials, three-year-old cases, bankruptcy appeals, and Social Security appeal cases. Current versions of the F-2, F-5a, and Civil Justice Reform Act are available at www.uscourts.gov.
The reports hosted on the PACER Case Locator are available for 10 cents per page.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact the PACER Service Center at pacer@psc.uscourts.gov.
