District and Bankruptcy Court E-File Registration (Legacy)

Registration for district and bankruptcy ECF is separate from and in addition to PACER registration. PACER registration allows you to view docket reports and documents from a court’s database, while ECF registration allows you to file documents electronically. When you register for a filer account, you must already have a PACER account to be able to view documents. Each district and bankruptcy court handles filer registrations individually. To register for filing privileges in one of these courts, you must contact that court directly.

Some district and bankruptcy courts currently use the legacy case management/electronic case files (CM/ECF) system, while others have converted to the next generation (NextGen) CM/ECF system. Check the court links page to see if your court has converted.

Use our links map to locate a district; then select the court’s home page link to find more information about registering for a filer ID in that district.
